The Email previews widget shows each email as it landed in your subscribers’ inboxes, next to its metrics, so you see which email a number comes from. It gives your dashboard visual context.
The Email previews widget has its own Email previews category in the widget gallery. The widget has two variants: Carousel and Grid.
Set up the widget
Section titled “Set up the widget”- In edit mode, open the Widgets tab and drag Carousel or Grid from the Email previews category onto the dashboard.
- Choose a dataset. The list shows only the datasets with a Preview field.
- Add filters to narrow the emails to what the dashboard is about, for example one newsletter series. Filters are optional but recommended. Without a filter, the widget picks from all emails in the date range, and the Limit shows only the first few.
- Under Group by, choose the dimensions that make a version of the email, for example Market and Campaign name. You can choose up to 8.
- Add the metrics to show with each email. The email with the highest value of the first metric comes first. Without metrics, the newest email comes first.
- Under Display settings, choose the Display (Carousel or Grid) and the Limit: how many emails the widget shows, 1, 3, 5 or 10. For a Grid, choose the Tile size. For a Carousel, turn on Show info panel if you want the panel open from the start.
- Resize the widget on the grid. It can be as narrow as a quarter of the dashboard.
Two variants: Carousel and Grid
Section titled “Two variants: Carousel and Grid”Each item in the widget is an Email preview: the latest email of one combination of Group by values, with its metrics. When the dashboard compares periods, each metric also shows its change, with an arrow and a sign.
Choose a variant under Display when you set up the widget.
The Carousel shows one Email preview at a time. The email fills the width of the widget and keeps its own shape. How much of the email you see depends on the height of the widget.
Under the email are its Group by values and its first metric. Use the arrows next to 1 / 4 to go to the next or previous Email preview, or click one of the small previews in the row.
Click ⓘ to open the info panel, with all values and metrics of the Email preview. In a wide widget, the panel shows next to the email. In a narrow widget, it shows over the email. To open the info panel by default, turn on Show info panel when you set up the widget.
The Grid shows all Email previews at once, as tiles side by side. Each tile shows the top of its email, its Group by values and its first metric. Use the Grid to compare the emails of many campaigns or markets at a glance.
Tile size sets the smallest width of a tile: Small, Medium or Large. The tiles stretch to fill each row, so a wider widget fits more tiles in a row.
Full size and View HTML
Section titled “Full size and View HTML”Click an email to open it in Full size. Full size shows the complete email, from top to bottom, with all its values and metrics. A row on the side shows the other Email previews of the widget: click one to open it, or use the arrow keys. Close Full size to go back to the dashboard.
View HTML opens the email as HTML in a new tab, so you see the email itself, as it was sent.
Why does an Email preview say “No preview for this email”?
None of the emails of that combination has a Preview link, so there is no email to show. The other Email previews still show.
Why does an Email preview say “Preview could not be made”?
SEINō could not make a picture of this email, for example because its online version is no longer available. Reload the page to try again. If every Email preview in the widget shows this message, contact support.
Do readers of a publicly shared report see the previews?
Yes. They see the pictures of the emails, in the Carousel, the Grid and Full size. View HTML is not available on a publicly shared report.
